Présentation :
With Renaud (1783), Sacchini made his debut on the Parisian stage. Criticism from the supporters of Gluck and Piccinni - his rivals - came from all sides... and yet Renaud is a success. Sacchini then became Maris-Antoinette’s new favourite. Encouraged by the public, who saw him as one of the best authors of the time, he enriched the Opera’s repertoire with several masterpieces. Some remained on the stage for many years, such as Renaud, performed almost without interruption until 1799 and revived in 1815.
