Presintation:
Composed between 1768 and 1771 for the Prince of Condé, these wind sextets, in a highly descriptive classical style, evoke the pleasures of the hunt or remind the Prince of his past exploits during the Seven Years’ War (1757–1763). His expenditure for music was lavish, and the musicians were recruited from among the very best. François-Joseph Gossec (1734–1829), already renowned for his talent, development of orchestral writing and the spatialisation of sound, here delivers delicate chamber music pieces, full of inventiveness, and offering as always a precursor of classicism.
