Présentation :
The fifth Mass by Jacques Foncès (1744-1813), in a surprisingly modern classical style despite the size of the forces used, is preserved in its original form as partbooks in the diocesan archives of Albi Cathedral. This publication in full score offers the performer the opportunity to discover a rich, vibrant and dynamic regional heritage of exceptional quality.
Presented with a suggested basso continuo, the work is designed for a four-part choir, with the Dessus parts sometimes divided for "petit chœur" and a quartet of soloists. The instruments traditionally used in the liturgy (cornetto, serpent, organ, bowed bass etc.) can accompany or even double the voices.
