The Overture H536 and Offertory H432 were composed to accompany the consecration of a bishop, probably at the Saint-Louis des Jésuites church in Paris. The overture that accompanies the bishop’s arrival at the church is a true orchestral opera overture. The offertory is a grand motet for 4-piece orchestra - instrumental dessus (violins, flutes, oboes), haute-contre and taille de violon (violas) and basso continuo (basse de violon, organ) - 4-part choir, and 3 soloists - haute-contre (tenor 1), taille (tenor 2), bass.
