Présentation :
The 4th Mass by Jacques Foncès (1744–1813), in a classical style that is surprisingly modern despite the forces used. This work is preserved in archaic form as choir books in the diocesan archives of Albi Cathedral. This new score offers performers the opportunity to discover a finely crafted example of a rich, lively and dynamic regional heritage.
Offered with a basso continuo, the work can be performed by a 4-voice choir, with the dessus part sometimes divided in the "petit chœur", and a quartet of soloists. Instruments traditionally used in liturgy (cornet à bouquin, serpent, organ, basse d’archet etc) can accompany or even double the voices.
