Presintation:
The myth of Arion shares many common traits with that of Orpheus: like him, it illustrates the power of music, but its ending is always happy. The form of Arion is remarkable: Pierre-Charles Roy seems to take pleasure in upsetting all the rules defined by Jean-Baptiste Rousseau. He is perfectly in agreement with Campra, who wanted to preserve the French style, as he stated in the foreword to his first book of cantatas.
