The musical work of Toulouse’s master of music Bernard-Aymable Dupuy (1707–1789) is now well represented by three scores composed for his native city.

The motet Domine Dominus noster was written in 1739 for the festivities organised by the city’s lawyers for the feast of Saint Yves, and received enthusiastic reviews in the press of the time. The composer appears to have enjoyed a very high profile in the city: he was a singer at Saint-Sernin church, and had won acclaim for the music of a ballet premiered at the city’s Académie de musique. The motet requires 3 soloists (dessus, taille and basse), a 5-part choir (divided dessus, hautes-contre, tailles, basses-tailles and basses) and a small orchestra of oboe, bassoon, violins (1 & 2) and cellos, plus basso continuo.
