Presintation:
This beautiful cycle of Leçons des morts seems to have been conceived as such, although one of the four was composed before the other three. The first, Parce mihi Domine, was written in Strasbourg in 1696, the next three in 1697; Brossard even specifies "ann. 1697 mense septembri". This cycle is extremely rare in this form in contemporary French music, and we only know the motet Parce mihi by Jean-Baptiste Morin and that by Valette de Montigny.
