Airs d'opéra pour grand dessus
This volume comprises the greatest monologues, arias and ariettas that Rameau wrote for the soprano voice, the 18th-century equivalent of today’s grand soprano or mezzo-soprano, the voice of queens and goddesses who often formed the leading female roles in operas of the period. The edition, preceded by a historical introduction in French and English, is based on the scholarly edition of Rameau’s works, Opera Omnia Rameau. Each piece, with a keyboard reduction, is preceded by its dramatic context and an English translation of the libretto.
