Présentation :
Jean-Marie Leclair was the most eminent representative of the French violin school of the 18th century. After several trips to Piedmont, where he trained in the Italian violin school, Leclair pursued a career as a soloist and composer, both in the city, notably at the Concert Spirituel where his concertos were regularly performed, and at court as violinist to the Chambre and Chapelle royale.
His concertos, of great formal quality, are particularly dense and contrapuntal, unusual in France at the time and no doubt brought back by Leclair from his many trips abroad.
