En savoir plus
This collection presents, in vocal score, all the arias and scenes in Italian that André Campra included in his operas. It offers an overview of the particular style of this composer who renewed lyric theatre in France at the beginning of the 18th century, notably through his opera-ballets. These arias, most of them previously unpublished, invite singers of all nationalities to approach the French style through the medium of the Italian language.
29 Italian arias, duets and trios from L'Europe galante, Vénus fête galante, Carnaval de Venise, Aréthuse, ou la Vengeance de l'amour, Fragments de M. de Lully, La Sérénade vénitienne, Les Muses, Les Fêtes vénitiennes, Le Triomphe de la Folie, Les Amours de Vénus et de Mars, and Les Âges, are preceded by a historical introduction in French and English, featuring all the Italian texts translated into French and English.
In addition to numerous arias for soprano, there are a number of solos for male voice and mixed-voice pieces in various vocal combinations. Julien Dubruque’s keyboard part (basso continuo/reduction of the orchestra) is part of a historically informed approach, allowing these pieces to be performed in audition or concert with either harpsichord or piano.
